Questions and Answers

The demand for permanent hair removal today is greater than ever.Much of this renewed demand is contributed to all the “quick fix” hype created by light-based hair removal. But the truth is that there is no effective and satisfactory quick-fix in hair removal field. Electrolysis is the only proven form of permanent hair removal for women and men.Boba Borojevic, owner of “Royal Electrolysis” home-based clinic is a skilled, knowledgeable and well-trained professional who works with her clients to achieve optimal results.

Electrolysis History
Although several researchers were experimenting with the way to remove unwanted hair permanently by using electrical current after the Civil War, it’s generally accepted that St. Louis ophthalmologist Charles Michel was the first to discover and publish permanent hair removal results with an electrified needle. In 1875, Dr. Michel reported he had been successfully using a battery-powered needle epilator to treat ingrown eyelashes (trichiasis) since 1869. This direct current [DC] powered method was called electrolysis because a chemical reaction in the hair follicle causes sodium hydroxide to form, which dissolves the follicle. It’s also sometimes called galvanic electrolysis. There are three modalities used today that fall under the heading of electrolysis:1) Galvanic or electrolysis is a chemical process. The current produces a chemical reaction in the hair follicle eliminating the hair growth cells.2) Thermolysis or short-wave produces heat. When this modality is used it heats and destroys the hair growth cells in the follicle. This modality can be utilized in two ways:flash method of thermolysis uses high intensity current for less time in the follicle
the current is used at lower intensity and longer timing.3) The blend method combines galvanic current with alternating (thermolysis) current.
Thermolysis heats up the chemical reaction in the follicle destroying hair growth cells.

What is electrolysis?
Electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal method. Electrology is the science of permanent hair removal. Using state-of-the-art technology, a minute amount of electricity is gently applied to the base of the hair follicle with a fine probe. This process destroys the hair growth cells. Therefore, the regenerative ability of the hair follicle is permanently eliminated. Electrolysis is more effective than ever before.

How many treatments are required?
The number of treatments necessary varies with each client. Treatment sessions can range from 15 minutes to more than an hour depending on the area being treated.
Factors such as hair growth cycles, the quantity and structure of hair presented, previous use of temporary hair removal methods, heredity, hormone function, certain medication and stress influence the treatment program for each individual. Unlike light based methods, electrolysis is effective on all skin and hair types. No other hair removal solution can claim such universal acceptability and success. It is important to follow the recommended treatment plan to achieve optimum results. Women and men with this problem suffer needlessly in silence – electrolysis can eliminate this unwanted hair forever. It is especially effective in shaping eyebrows and with people having dark skin and/or light and grey hair.
It is very important to note that persistence and a series of REGULAR treatments will accomplish the best results.

Does electrolysis have any side effects on the skin?
Immediately following treatment, there may be slight redness, which varies with each individual. We will provide you with post treatment instructions and the personal attention you need.

Does it hurt?
Electrolysis is NOT considered to be a painful procedure. However, people have different levels of sensitivity and something that is completely comfortable for one person may be less comfortable for another person, Most people undergoing treatment for the first time often say, “If I knew that’s all there was to it, I’d have been here a lot sooner.” Please realize, however, that tissue is being treated and that a sensation is to be expected.

How long will it take to remove all my unwanted hair?
Many different factors determine the length of time necessary to completely remove all your unwanted hair:
The type of hair you have (straight, wavy, curly) and what temporary methods of hair removal you have previously employed.
The kind of skin you have: normal, fine or super-sensitive.
The location of the hair (some areas must be treated more slowly than others)
The quantity of hair to be removed. The cause of your hair growth.Frequency of treatments.
The more regularly you have treatments, the quicker you will be rid of your unwanted hair.
